Devlog #4 – World Creation and Demo Development

The last couple of weeks have been mostly spent developing the town the game will be set. I've learnt a lot of tricks in Blender as well which has sped up the process of modelling the town layout and a few props to make the place feel a bit more real. It's been a challenge making the art and style consistent, but I think it's shaping up nicely especially since a lot of this is experimental.
I've added some shop facades to the scene as well as some props like bins, street lamps and a post box, and although they were done quickly, they've turned out well and help sell the atmosphere.
I also decided to switch up the art style, going for a darker, more mysterious vibe than originally. I've also started thinking of a story for the game which has driven a lot of the design decisions up to this point. As mentioned in a previous post the main inspiration for the enemies is the rage infected from 28 Days, and I've also drawn a lot of inspiration from Silent Hill, and more recently, the series From. If you haven't seen From you need to check it out asap.
I'm planning to release a playable demo in the near future, so if you're interested in exploring an isolated town filled with mystery and dark secrets, make sure you follow the project!
Thanks for checking out my project, It means a lot that you're taking an interest and keeps motivated to push on. Plenty more to do but its coming together!
